The Socceroos and the "Come Play" Campaign

Thought I'd write a blog about the sport today, most specifically the Socceroos. I'm not normally a big fan of the 'world game' in soccer, but I try to follow the Aussies at the international level. Last night, the Socceroos defeated Japan at the MCG 2-1; Tim Cahill scored twice, mirroring his two goals he scored at Kaiserslautern in the 2006 World Cup in Germany also against Japan (in the pool rounds).

Although, the Australians have already qualified for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and this game was more of a celebration. It will be good to stay up on late nights watching the Socceroos play next year between the 11th June and 11th July 2010, and hopefully the Socceroos can improve their performance from Germany, which they got to the Group of 16 (they were defeated by Italy [unfairly haha], who were the eventual winners of the World Cup).

I also like to point your attention to the above clip of Australia's World Cup bid to host the 2018 or the 2022 World Cup! Australia is a growing nation in soccer, and it would be awesome to host the World Cup. I also believe we are a deserved nation to host it, other than a country we call England. You can also support the bid by visiting this website: http://www.australia2018-2022.com.au/

  2. Oh also I believe Australia should be given the chance to host world cup, since we never host one and we already host the Olympic twice lol

  3. Yeah, I thought we might have seen a kangaroo kick a soccer ball. Overall a really good video.

Yep, hosting the Olympics just proves that we can host major events like the World Cup.
